Lovely Lace Underbust CorsetMarch 9th, 2010Dottie Overbust CorsetFebruary 28th, 2010Stripey Overbust CorsetFebruary 28th, 2010Man CorsetFebruary 21st, 2010DraculaClothingJanuary 20th, 2010I have started working full time on DraculaClothing and a few other sites now, it is a lot to do and I hope you’ll like the result. I have found some amazing lenses, I have never seen anything like them at all, so if they are comfortable to wear we will start selling them soon, also found some regular crazy eye lenses, that we will try to sell cheaper than other shops. We are taking pictures of and adding the latest clothes to the shop. We got 150 items on our doorstep in Norway and then had to bring them with us to Prague. Sold half of them already and we are saving up money to order more of them so we at least have 1 in each size. Planning to order more of some of them, and would love feedback on what clothing you think we should order more than 1 of each size. Our mens collection is on its way, it has taken much longer than we thought, but what we have seen so far is great. We are also making male corset vests. They are ment to give men a v-shape instead of the hourglass shape you get from woman’s corset. We have made several prototypes over a long period of time and think we have found the solution now. We will probably call them V-shapers instead of corsets at least the vest version. We are also buying some shoes that look great, but I don’t think we will have them in the shop for a few months and London Edge is in just two weeks. FashionJanuary 6th, 2010I look through haute couture shows on a regular basis and have a few favorites. I think my new favorite is Alexander McQueen though. ![]() Alexander McQueen In the beginning I looked through goth pages for inspiration all the time, but I don’t see that much new there anymore. Please feel free to add links to things that contradicts me, I would love to see new ideas within the alternative community. I love the lines in this dress, it would look ten times better on a more curvy woman, but it gives me ideas and I love what he has done with the sleeves. ![]() Alexander McQueen He does a great job of looking like a vampire. I really don’t understand the white colour on his pants, but the rest is very classical and cool. Gentlemens clothingJanuary 4th, 2010We are working very hard on getting more clothes for the guys. I really want it for myself and I’ve seen several of you on our Facebook page that wants it. We actually had a lot of guys clothes a while ago, but the tailor we used didn’t deliver as we wanted them to. Creating new clothes and finding tailors is a very time consuming job, but we have a collection on its way. I’ll give you a little preview of a prototype of a coat. We allready sold the prototype, but we will have more as soon as possible. The coat has a cape and I got the idea looking at a coat my grandfather had. It is lined with fake fur, so you can use it on a cold day. I’ll present some more guys clothes soon, I might even be on a picture myself, even though I don’t like it much. Truls DraculaClothing Victorian GothDecember 28th, 2009We plan on presenting different alternative clothing styles. I don’t claim that everything is right and some may definitely disagree, but it is my view on the different styles at least. If you disagree please tell me in the comment field and I may edit the article if I agree with you. I’ll start with one of my personal favourites, the Victorian Goth. ![]() Victorian Goth Ida in a Victorian Goth outfit we will add to the shop in January or February. Victorian goth takes inspiration from Victorian fashion, lifestyle and literature. Women wore corsets, lace and extravagant dresses, men wore top hats, waistcoats and cummerbunds. Some Victorian goths pride themselves in historical accuracy, while others develop the style by emphasizing the corset for example. Bram Stokers Dracula is one of the great inspirations for many Victorian Goths and some will try to live as close to the high class Victorian lifestyle as possible by indulging in theater, opera, masquerades and so on. For a great Victorian party check out http://dancesofvice.com/ and the Venice Carnival Norwegian National Christmas DishesDecember 26th, 2009Its Christmas and we have so many wonderful national dishes in Norway that we just have to write about. The most famous is Lutefisk ![]() Lutefisk ![]() Lutefisk About Lutefisk on Wikipedia Lutefisk is made from dried whitefish (normally cod, but ling is also used), prepared with lye, in a sequence of particular treatments. The watering steps of these treatments differ slightly for salted/dried whitefish because of its high salt content. The first treatment is to soak the stockfish in cold water for five to six days (with the water changed daily). The saturated stockfish is then soaked in an unchanged solution of cold water and lye for an additional two days. The fish swells during this soaking and its protein content decreases by more than 50 percent, producing its famous jelly-like consistency. When this treatment is finished, the fish (saturated with lye) has a pH value of 11–12, and is therefore caustic. To make the fish edible, a final treatment of yet another four to six days of soaking in cold water (also changed daily) is needed. Eventually, the lutefisk is ready to be cooked. Yummy;) First Norwegian lecture in “How to torture a fish in different ways” ![]() Smalahove Smalahove is another traditional dish, usually eaten around and before Christmas time, made from a sheep’s head. The skin and fleece of the head is torched, the brain removed, and the head is salted, sometimes smoked, and dried. The head is boiled for about 3 hours and served with mashed rutabaga and potatoes. I love all food that is prepared with a flamethrower;) ![]() Rakfisk Rakfisk Leave the rakfisk for two to three months. Rakfisk is well conserved in the brine. When the fish is appropriately “rak,” you can put it into a fresh 4% salt brine, which will slow down the “raking” process. Another method for slowing it down is to put the tub in the freezer (or outside if cold enough) for some time. As long as the fish is lying in the brine it will not freeze. Note that all recipes for rakfisk states that the fish must never be in contact with soil. This is very important because of the risk of the wrong bacteria growing in the fish, especially Clostridium botulinum which causes botulism. The finished product does not need cooking but is eaten as it is. Rakfisk is usually served sliced or as a fillet on lefse, with raw onion, sour cream, and almond potatoes. Some also use mustard-sauce, a mild form of mustard with dill. Although not an everyday meal, approximately 500 tonnes of rakfisk are consumed in Norway annually. It is not recommended that rakfisk be eaten by people with a reduced immune defense or by pregnant women. We could actually have continued for a while more, maybe we will make a part two next Christmas Christmas Calendar Day 24December 24th, 2009Happy Christmas to all of you. We celebrate Christmas on the 24. in Norway. We watch old Disney cartoons from the ’50s and a lot of people eat fish that has been lying in lye for a long while thats called Lutefisk. Hope you all get great presents, and have a wonderful time with your families and friends. This is our small X-mas present for you guys. |
